FIghting Malnutrition Affecting Children in Somalia.

Somalia once more faces severe drought that could put large part of the country and its population at risk of famine in 2022 following the failure of three consecutive rain seasons of 2021 and late 2020.

In Somalia, approximately 840,000 children under the age of five are likely to be acutely malnourished, including nearly 143,000 who are likely to be severely malnourished through December 2021.

Rates of acute and chronic malnutrition have remained persistently high throughout the country. Food security has been adversely affected by ongoing conflict, displacement, breakdown in social and public services coupled with recurrent
droughts and floods, and most recently, locust infestation and COVID-19 .

Our objective is to improve the nutritional status of the Somali population, thereby contributing to an overall improvement in their survival,
growth and development. Through support from our generous donors, our organization impacts vulnerable communities, especially those affected by war and drought living in Internally Displaced  Persons camps and host communities in Lower Juba, Galmudug and Kaxda regions of Somalia
